Painting Guidelines
Painting and Final Finishing
The range of Woodhouse Perimeter Finger jointed mouldings provide a cost competitive moulding option for the building professional and a pre-finished substrate for the trade painter. Each moulding can be finished with either oil-based or water-based (acrylic) paints. Once the mouldings have been installed, fill any holes with a wood filler and lightly sand to an even finish. Spot prime any areas where the timber may have been exposed to prepare for the final topcoat.
The Perimeter range of mouldings can be painted with a single application of a quality top coat in most instances. For some applications a second top coat will be necessary.#
To achieve a desired finish, observe the following guidelines:

Notes:
- Ensure that all holes are puttied with a premium wood filler and spot prime areas where the coating has been removed and/or damaged
- Optimum cure time for all painting applications is 72 hours. Exercise care with all painted surfaces during the 24-48 hours following topcoat applications to avoid damage to the coating integrity.
- These recommendations assume that premium acrylic and enamel (oil-based) paint products are used for all top coats and the final finishing systems, and that workmanship is of an industry accepted level.
- The spray application guidelines assume correct thinning of both acrylic and oil-based coatings prior to introduction to the moulding’s pre-coated surface. Refer to the paint manufacturer’s guidelines when applying the topcoat via this process.
- Additional top coats may be necessary if an even better end finish is required
# The coating on the range of Woodhouse Perimeter™ Gesso Pre-Coated Mouldings has been machine applied to provide a surface coating suitable for final finishing. Whilst in most instances a single application of topcoat paint is suitable, the quality of the painted surface following this application may demand and require further additional coats. This requirement is subjective and may be affected by the quality of the topcoat paint used; the application of the coating; and the desired outcomes of the end user. Refer to the paint manufacturers guide for further instructions on finishing.
